Experience the Difference
Let’s back up to a few months ago…
Remember that soap project we told you all about and so many people were so supportive. ( It is still going strong by the way thanks to everyone who is following along)
We wanted to give even more so we took sometime to reset, readjust and refocus our plan.
The original idea was super easy
buy the coconut oil from the Indigenous people to create a source of income for them during the pandemic.Turn the oil into soap and create another set of jobs at the warehouse on the main islandSell the “Island Soap Boxes” to gain a revenue stream to keep buying the oilDonate the soap back to the village to promote washing handing and promote good hygiene to protect against viruses…And do this all natural creating a small environmental footprint.
The idea was the jobs would feed families by using skills they already had… But we knew there had to be more and we could come up with a way to build a food supply for the community …. The question was how to merge these ideas together.
During this endeavor we got a call from a super foods company in Panama City named Sunara Farms that works with the Darién Province. ( They are also John Deere Agriculture Consultants here in Panama) The owners loved our idea and wanted to help keep us moving forward.
The first week of November we flew to Panama City to come up with plan on how to grow this project bigger and better for the community.
As luck would have it Jason Cook, the owner of the super foods company, background is in aquaponics and he designs systems exactly like what we are looking for ….
Fast forward to start of 2021 … Jason and his wife flew to Bocas to help us build “the aquaponics garden” and educate the community on the benefits of what we are doing and the food supply it will create.
I cannot wait to share this journey with you.
Currently in the US we have 77 boxes of Island Boxes to sell if you would still like to help us and we are taking donations too… this project is big but I know we can accomplish it.
